It was lots of fun and a tremendous honor to get to be the first to design the interior of an ATAT
I had to redesign the cartoon ATAT from "Rebels" so it would be more high detail and more live action-like, while also adding some possible path ways for traversal around the hull.
It was so fun completing the design of the ATAT cockpit that had only been seen partially in the original movies, and that was featured in a very cartoon style on the show "Rebels". The basic geometry already existed as well as the very detaile
This is the lower level of the Engine Room inside the Stinger Mantis. We went for a submarine feeling which is much more utilitarian than the more clean and luxurious living quarters. All the interiors actually fit in the real hull 3D model of the ship.
This was an early image that I made as inspiration for the level designers, and amazingly enough, they used it pretty much as it is to create the game play that ended in the final level.
The Holo Table had to be reminiscent of the one at the end of "The Return Of The Jedi". We went with a more slick design to better integrate it with the overall curvy style of the interiors
This is the top side of the fortress. I included the moon of Mustafar (where Vader's castle is located) in the far left, so the inquisitors are always within reach of the dark lord.
These were the connecting tunnels that allowed the characters to go from the open sea to the heart of the Fortress. The idea was that we would be surrounded by water and sea creatures to create a sense of foreboding and claustrophobia.
